With 40 years of pack building experience in our pocket we reckon we know how to make durable, functional quality packs. Over the years we’ve learned what works and what doesn’t. We developed a style that makes our packs look like they mean business… a style that makes them look Macpac. To celebrate 40 years of pack building, we’ve brought back a few classics.

Combining a retro look with traditional quality, your friends will admire your flair and envy your ability to carry all you need and more. The Macpac Cerro is a smaller version of the original Cerro pack, of which we have a beautiful example hanging in the reception area of our head office. This particular pack dates from the late 70s and is in an amazing condition still – a real testament to the durability of AzTec canvas and how well our packs last even after many years of adventure.

AZTEC® PREMIUM CANVAS

​Evolved to match the demanding New Zealand and Australian environments, AZTEC® fabrics are at the core of Macpac’s formidable reputation for rugged, weatherproof packs. AZTEC® fabrics are constructed from a unique blend of hard wearing, long staple cottons and abrasion, and rot-resistant polyester fibres. These fibres are plied together to create yarns that are tightly woven in a durable cloth. Different yarns are used to create each type of AZTEC® fabric which gives them unique properties.

The cloth is saturated in a blend of resins and waxes to create a weather-proof fabric. In wet conditions, the natural swelling of the cotton fibres fills airspaces to enhance the weather-proofness of AZTEC® fabric.
